Educational resources

The legacy of 9/11 is carried on through the education of young people, which makes the Hero's Holiday Bike Drive so important. Specifically, our "Share Your Story" initiative gives valuable insight into the effects of 9/11 on people around the world. Using primary source accounts, we were able to compose a presentation (consisting of a slideshow and video) for middle school students that connects the social and emotional effects of 9/11 to the facts of what occurred that day. These materials are available below and accessible for everyone.

Video

This is a recording of Brie Haverstick's presentation to eighth graders at Forrestdale Middle School. This covers Ken Tietjen's Story, the Hero's Holiday Bike Drive, the importance of oral history, interview quotes, and important takeaways. Please take a look!
